I installed a new speedometer cable, and cannot CANNOT get that 1.5 inch rubber grommet properly seated into the 1 inch hole in the firewall.

Anyone have any tips/tricks to do it?

Little bit of soap *might* make it slip into place a bit easier...

    They can be a pain...

    Good luck!

Is it also common to find a good amount of oil/transmission fluid on the backside of the gauge panel where the speedo cable hooks into the panel? Should the gasket at the transfer case connection prevent oil from entering into the speedo cable?
