So I did my research on both my 80s bought all the same ac part numbers for all components but it seems the oem expansion valve has a different size on the small of 4 holes where rubber Orings go into.. I purchased denso 475-2002 for both my 93s, but only 1 matched up hole size.. the 93 expansion valve that didn't match up was one that was already r134a from factory.. is there different expansion valves for the 80s.. I am thinking toyota switched valves in 93 when converting r12 to r134a? Looking for a part number for newer expansion valve...

The A/C went from R12 to R134 in May of 1993. The R12 valve is 88515-33010-83. The R134 valve is 88515-22240.

A quick identifier is where the receiver dryer is mounted. If it's next to the battery it's R12. If it's behind the front bumper it's R134.

Note: If it is a retrofit R134 you still need to use the R12 valve.

Got it cdan. I can't buy the same part numbers for both my 93s thinking they are identical.. I have a early 93 and post May 93. I just looked at older threads and looks like I need denso part nunber 475-2005 (later) and not 475-2002 (older).

Or use the real OEM numbers supplied above.
