RTH: DS Door Handle removal (1 Viewer)

My door handle is messed up on my 80 so I’m trying to get it out of the door to tinker with it or figure out if I need a new one. Having trouble figuring out how I disconnect the rod from the door lock and handle. In the pic the top rod is for opening the door, then below that to the left is the door lock on.

The gray and brown plastic clips need to be snapped off the corresponding rods where the arrows point. Then the rods can be pulled out of the handle assembly. Rotating the clips should then allow them to be removed as well.
