I'm trying to find out why my RPM guage isn't working. I once had a thread on this topic at one time, but cannot find it anymore.
Any ideas on why RPM guages fail?

Thanks in advance.

It's called a tach, short for tachometer. Check your fuses. If that isn't it, get a wiring digram.

A typical gasoline tach only needs 3 wires to work: 12V power, ground and from the negative side of the coil. A fourth wire that's kinda nice after dark is for lights.

cool! will give that a shot.

Is this ignitor located on the passenger side by the speed control/cruise control actuator/airbox?

Yes. It's the unit next to the cruise control, just behind the air box.

so, what am I supposed to be looking for from the ignitor? I've unplugged/replugged both connectors and the solid black wire and no change. WHat next?

do you have and know how to use a mutimeter and read a wiring diagram? that would be my first step.

Yes,
I know the basics of how to use one. Would the wiring diagram be in the FSM?
