I'm pretty savvy with DC electrical things, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm happy enough just knowing that the AC power to my house works and that's all I really need to know about AC.
I don't know how a router speed controller works since I think I remember that it's not just a big potentiometer.
Anyway, my question for those that know these things: could I add a speed controller to my old wood-cutting bandsaw to slow it down for cutting metal? Or does the speed controller also decrease the amount of torque when it decreases the motor's speed?
What am I missing?
