Rough tranny shifter

Went out to do some trails today and after coming through a decent stretch of big rocks, i went to put the truck in park and quickly noticed that the shifter was not smooth at all, it was very rough and something was not right.


When the shifter said it was in Reverse, the dash display showed it to be in neutral and it actually was. When i put the shifter in park, it was in reverse.

WE drove it in a few circles and tried to excercise the shifter and after awhile things fell back into place.

After that i called it quits and decided to head home. I had no issues at all and it drive fine, the shifter it still really rough when moving it from park to any of the R, N, D, 2, L.

I got up underneith hoping to find a stick maybe jammed in the linkage, but nothing. Everything was fine.

Does this still sounds like the linkage or perhaps a tranny issue?

Sounds linkage to me, take another look...if it's a cable linkage, it might have loosened severly. If a solid/hard linkage, it might be bent.

The linkage is solid/hard.

Did not appear to be bent at all, and i checked trice. I also removed the tranny hump cover and everything seemed fine there.

Will spend some more time playing around with it later, possibly tomorrow.

Anyone else have any good ideas for this?

I cant seem to find a single thing wrong.
