I just finished putting the new suspension under my 62, and when i went to mount the rear shocks the body of the shock was hitting the spring, so i decided to run them shaft down/can up so it would clear. I seem to remember reading that high pressure nitro shocks can be used upside-down without issue. It seemed fine with a 250 mile trip today too (im loving being taller than all the other cars in traffic haha) so i was wondering it others would agree with me or if im looking for trouble.

thanks fellas

btw rough country is the same thing as heckethorn, just in case anyone was confused

bump

I just installed mine today and the shock body is not hitting the spring plate but almost is. I was also wondering if someone had an answer to this question.

Ive wheeled the hell out of those shocks and they are holding up really well. Ive torn up the washers and bushings on the bottoms from dragging them over rocks, but in terms of performance they are great.

a favor?

Hey AgentOrange-

Is there any chance you could post a pic of one of your front shock towers?

I am not convinced I mounted the front shocks correctly. The top retaining nut on mine just squishes the bushings down between the cups and the shock tower and the torque value is like 4 ft pounds, really easy to turn the nut.

I'd really appreciate it. TIA

On the rear my shocks are not touching at all on the spring but the boot does touch the exhaust pipe a bit. The front on mine is where the fit is close.

Ill see if i have one, i would just tighten it down until its got a good bit of squish to it, where are you getting 4 ft-lbs, thats not even really snug.
