New Wheels and Tires

Ok here you guys go with some flex shots, got about 3 feet in the front and around 3.75 in the rear. I felt it could easily go higher but was doing it by myself so didn't feel safe without another set of eyes.

These things ride a ton better than the last set although I think it may be the re-centered wheels that was giving me some wobble with the previous two sets of tires..... they are a little louder though but hey.... right now for me they are perfect. I

1.5" spacers may be in the future...... that and some longs

did you not want to try the new bajas or did you just want to go up in size? Looks sexy by the way.

The price for the bajas were just a tad bit cheaper than these, and I was able to sell my old wheels and tires for almost the price of these so they were basically free.

Right on, looks awesome, curious how you will like them compared to others. Keep us updated.

They drive smoother than the last set, that may be because the last wheels were recentered and it is give and take with how well they balance.

They do make more noise though but no more than most MT tires

Got to get an alignment done soon.

Got some trail time on the new tires early in December. Only pic I actually got.
Tires worked well, but I think I have a broken motor mount now..... seems like there was a lot of moving underneath the truck from the drivetrain.

Sweet

It was a great bar..... extremely stout. Just needed to lose some weight. Although if I ever run into a moose i'll miss it even more.

Yep you just need e-brake cable that comes with the FF and you are good to go.... very easy swap.

More FF Axle questions

Hey lt1fire,

Did you have to swap out the brake master cylinder to add the FF axle for the disk brakes on your rig? Your rig is a '92 - correct?

I was told I will have to do so as I currently have the drum brakes on the rear - stock '92. So making the brake master cylinder swap makes sense to do the FF axle swap upgrade.

Please advise!

I didn't, and others that have done it haven't... some have..... if you feel you need to do it after swapping the axle then go ahead and do it. It's an easy swap.

Finally got around to installing the bigger front brakes from an FZJ 80 on my rig... breaking seems improved but not as good as I want it.... I think an extra vaccum canister on the booster may be in order.

From what model larger front brakes did you use?
And would the stock 16" steel wheels fit over them?

A 95 80 series

Stock Fj80 series are 15"
and stock fzj80 wheels are 16" aluminum so not quite sure which rims you are talking about but any 16" wheels should work.

i put a extra vaccum can on mine to try to get more brake, did not help at all, also there is a valve you can order that is supose to do the same thing with big cams, ordered one ,and it did nothing .
