Hey there mudders,

I picked up a '67 with the original F engine. Hasn't ran in a while and I'm just now getting around to it. It's got a Rochester carb on it, which seems pretty uncommon these days. I searched around, there is very little info out there about them.

From what I can tell it is this model:

If it is, it seems like rebuild kits are readily available.

Would love to get some feedback on this carb before I spend the time and money to go through it. I know the Aisins get praise and I may end up going that route, but wanted to hear more about this first.

Here's a couple photos:

I put a Rochester 2 jet on my 1978 FJ40 and was not real happy with it, but ran with it since there were not a lot of options back then.

It's probably lousy offroad (not really being engineered for that use), but should be capable of working until you find what you want. Pretty simple design and easy/cheap to rebuild.

The LC engine is based on old Chevrolet IL6. Over the years a lot of IL6 components have been used on FJ40 engines; alternators, carburetors and distributors, with little or no modification. Since Toyota bought the original Chevrolet tooling why wouldn't the parts work?

I ran a Rochester for about a decade on my 2f 40. Back in the day MAF was selling a 3 combo kit: Rochester carb, Delco dizzy & headers. I bit & went for it. Decent enough & dead simple, but they are all old now & parts are hard to come by.

Went back to newer OEM, which would be my suggestion for you.

A rebuilt Aisan single barrel would be right at home there. I would search for one of those and rebuild it. Even cooler if you can find a big window.

Do a search for Aisan sd40 big window carburetor. :smokin:

I have a few rebuilt D40 Aisan 1bbls available. Contact info below ⬇️

Would this d40 carb be a suitable replacement?

Here is vehicle info for reference:

Frame tag says FJ40-44215
Engine block tag says 226097 (4/66 via SOR)
Titled as a 1967

What other parts will I need to secure to make this work? This does not have the solenoid and I believe that would be proper for my truck.

That is the correct carb for your year 40. Id check the float level and run it.
