I recently had my first break down while traveling, broke down in the middle of nowhere. I called for a tow through my insurance company roadside assistance program. While the wait was expected considering the location the fact that the tow truck could only take 1 person and there were 5 of use (3 kids) and a dog that wasn't going to work. When I asked the operator about getting passengers to another location they told me I was SOL and I had to arrange for transportation. My response was "Isn't that part of roadside assistance"? Apparently not...

Anyone have roadside assistance that specifically covers transport of vehicle and people? Any awesome experience with one company or service? Thanks for all replies.

I think the only way you can accomplish this is if you've got car rental coverage as well. It's probably going to still mean a delay for you to get back and pick up the family.
