2002 LX with 260mi...30 min into drive home...heard clicking. Turned off air, noticed temp maxed w some smoke. Stalled, just got to side of road. Found this. Not familiar with.

Your heater t's went. Search this forum for part numbers/how to replace these. Keep a extra set in the car along with a extra coil pack.

I wouldn't, overheating and rust are normally the 100 killers.

Heater tees. Remember to replace BOTH, not just the one that failed. If your radiator is original, replace that now too.
Hoping that you pinned the temp gauge for only a brief moment. My guess is you don’t have much coolant left in the system.

Buy 3, keep an extra. They’re cheap.
I hope it's as simple as replacing the tees, but if it stopped running on its own before you noticed it or soon after you may have BIGger problems.
Yeah, I hope the engine is okay.
Stalling the engine at low RPM like 1000-1500 are not as severe as one stalling at 2500 rpm's.
