Well, I found two long side and two short side shafts. The two short sides are the same length. The long shafts are different, but the shorter one is labeled FJ40. According to my notes:

Mini-truck short side is unique.
FJ40 long side is unique.

FJ60 short side and FJ40 short side are the same.
FJ60 long side and mini long side are the same.

I recall harvesting FJ60 shafts and mini shafts for the birfields. Damn, I have no idea what I have. Anybody know the length of an FJ60 short side axle shaft? Or the length of a mini short side?

Ill get you a measurement in the AM. I have a spare short and long 60 axles.

I had a great time meeting all of you and would love to join you all again. Pictures would be awesome!

Hey Bryan,

It was good to make your acquaintance and you have a cool truggy! Love that Vortec!! Your dog, Clara(?) is super cool.

Hi Bryan,
We'll be having a meeting in early July so watch this section of 'Mud for the specifics.

Clara is a great dog and has gone with me on EVERY trip i've been on. Being the first trip in the truggy I found a lot of good things yet still found some bad things. They will all get worked out.

Also I hope the meeting isn't too early in July as I will be celebrating 4th up at my lake house till the 7th or 8th.

Now that I am aware of these forums I will stay tuned in with everyone!
Thanks again~
Bryan

Status report?

it has been a good lesson in patience... :meh:
was just picked up and went into the shop on monday, (been at my uncles since moab). have the custom oil pan in hand at shop, supposedly starting this week, 3 days to gut and prep for the new heart... said maybe 4 weeks to dot i's and cross t's, i'm hoping for mid july completion.

So what will the technical designation be once it is completed? It will no longer be an FZJ80.

i was thinking FZ-LL8

Thanks for inviting us to wheel with you all. We had a great time and looking forward to doing it again soon. Now that I know about this forum, I'll be seeing a lot more un-pavement. Too bad we had to split early, but it worked out pretty good for Bryan, and thanks for the help, Blaine. (My truck may have struggled with that haul) Good luck with the fix Bryan, looks like you know what you're doing, but if you need an extra hand I'm pretty well versed, and always willing to help.

Got my 35's and bead locks so I can keep up with you guys. Now for a ham radio I guess...
