Hello,

Hopefully you are familiar with my thread about the 2LTE cylinder head swap that i have just completed on my LJ78 prado.
Here is link with pictures of the journey from begining to end.

It is inspeciton time to make it road legal.
I went to canadian tire and they refused to inspect my RHD vehicle. Do any of you guys know which facility in "Edmonton, Alberta" will inspect these vehicles? i would prefer it to be in the southern part of the city.

i have made the required changes for Alberta: DRL and side marker reflectors on all 4 sides. Is there any thing else i am missing?

let me know,
Ali.

No, in Alberta any vehicle coming in from outside needs an OOP.

Ali, I'd suggest calling around to some independent garages. Canadian tire sucks for this kind of thing. Look for a mechanic shop with lots of old Volvos or Saabs or Land Rovers or Peugeots, etc. parked out front. Those kinds of shops usually aren't afraid to tackle something a little out of the ordinary.

your rear lights "might" cause an issue but here in Alberta, if hte shop has kept up on the changes, the DOT / SAE issues have become a thing of the past.
cheers

inspection done and registered

hello guys,

i took my truck to bestway tire at 51 ave west of 99 street. This shop was recommeded by a diesel mechanic and they do see RHDs from time to time, so they knew what they were inspecting. Alberta gov. website is down so i cannot find the phone number. The AB gov. website has the list of all the inspection centers.

thanks,
ALI.

Be sure to post your experience with them. I am originally from that area of town and used to drop in there from time to time for tire related issues. It would be nice to know of a few shops one could trust in the city for RHD/Cruiser related maintenance. Good luck.

P.S. I took my HJ61 to Southpark Chevrolet based on the recommendation of a friend who's brother in law was a mechanic there. I had a good experience with them (i.e. no problems with the cruiser to repair) but this was 3 years go.
