From what I am reading, the paper clip trick is for the ODB1 trucks…and all the ODB2 readers that I’m finding won’t read the ABS codes. Anyone know how to get the fault code from a ‘96 without a dealer visit?

Jumper from E1 to TC on the check terminal, key in the on position and pull the code.

For ABS codes, this works on all trucks.

OBD I trucks require a jumper between different E1 and TE1 to retrieve check engine codes.

Just grab a paper clip and short out the 2 terminals.

I just checked the code and it appears that the airbag light is transmitting the code and not the check engine light. Also it looks like the code it’s sending is “31”. I’ll look it up now.

Looks like it’s a vacuum sensor code but I was looking for an ABS code… my ABS light is on. Do I have to solve them one at a time?

Also another question would be is this the correct way to pull codes related to ABS? It seems odd that all the readers that I have come across say they will not read ABS codes but read all the others.
