I am going to due the timing belt and water pump service. I will also be replacing the radiator. I will be doing upper and lower radiator hoses. While I am in there and have things a part I am wondering if there are some good preventative maintenance items I should replace or think about. A few questions on the parts list:

1. For the water pump/timing belt kit I was going to get the AISIN kit off of rock auto. Anything I need or is recommended that doesn't come with the kit or I should do while I am in there? Remember I will be taking the radiator out too....

2. Where Can I get non-plastics heater hose T's? Should I replace the hoses as well or is that a pain?

3. I was shopping off rock auto. Anywhere else to look to get all these parts from? Anyone know anything about the brand radiators they sell or something recommended? Looking for best value. While I have the radiator out any other maintenance items to consider doing? Anything with the fan or...? Basically while the radiator is out and doing the water pump/timing belt service is there anything in there while I have everything out I should be thinking about replacing.

Thank you for any help!

1. Fan clutch.. change that as well.. its a Pita to get it out.. so u might as well get that replaced while u are at it.

- Note make sure u keep the fan shroud very delicately in a place where its not going to break.

2. others may have another opinion.. but you are not touching the heater T's in this install. You can do it if you like but this can be done separately at any other time.

3. Others can chime in for this.

Couple of really good threads already on the heater T's (with part numbers for a variety of different materials for replacement) and a radiator thread "best rad for the money today" or something like that. To search just put in a key word, limit it to titles and 100 section only.

As for while you're in there, depending on age and miles (and budget) - fan clutch, fan bracket, t-stat

I know they were OOS, but you can check Cruiser Outfitters for all that stuff.

Amazon product

This is the fan bracket that @Trunk Monkey is talking about, these things go out between 200-250k and some times they just go out for no reason.

Here's the list from my '98 timing belt job. Not sure what year your truck is, so double check part numbers.

Timing Belt Kit (Aisin) - Water pump, pulleys, tensioner, belt, o-ringsAisin TKT-021
Fan Clutch nuts (OEM) - Originals chiseled off & damaged during disassemblyQty. 4: 90029-07010
Timing Belt Idler bolt (OEM) - Because it's pre-coated with required thread sealant/locker13556-50010
Fan Bracket (OEM)16307-0F010
Wire Harness Clamp, LH Timing Cover (OEM) - Original broke during disassembly, keeps crank sensor wire safe82711-43020
Front Crankshaft Seal (OEM) - Slightly leaking, good "while in there" item90311-A0001
Serpentine belt (Mitsuboshi)Mitsuboshi 6PK2245
Serpentine belt idler pulley (OEM) - Original was wobbly16604-50030
Radiator (OEM)16400-50360
Oil cooler hose & clamps (OEM) - Another "while you're in there" thingQty.1: 16282-50040, Qty.2: 90467-20011

All parts must be OEM or AISIN. I used an AM fan bracket and it failes (close to be fail) in 25K miles. The idler pully failed out the box. Stay with OEM or Aisin.

If your cam and crank seals are not leaking and is about 200K miles and no visual leaks, just leave those. I did my T belt job at 222K miles without the seals and still no leaks. If fan blade has cracks, replace it AISIN (rockauto has it for $56)

i just did this. Fan clutch and fan bracket. The clutch nuts would have been good too. Kyotorad is the radiator I used, otherwise all Aisin or oem parts.

Don’t forget the black sealant for the thermostat housing. If your thermostat is good, change the gasket on it. Mine leaked after reinstall.

I made a list a few months ago for a 2006 if that would help any.

Here is my list of parts and where I sourced them for 180k maintenance. See the timing belt section. There are three tools too. Hope this helps.

Lisle shaft type seal puller
Crank shaft pulley hold tool
Camshaft pulley holder

I would add the heater bypass hoses and the oil cooler hoses

I have an Aisin kit laying around that I can give you a good deal on, if you want!
