I may be an idiot, but there has got to be a simpler way to do this. I have new struts, but I can't get the old ones off. I've already bent a screwdriver trying to pry the buggers off, and I'm at wit's end. What was supposed to be a simple quick job has turned into a frustrating mess. Anyone that can give me insight into how to come out of this situation with all my hair in my head, I implore you: help me.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to putting in my CCOT cubby box and hope that it will be a little less frustrating...

removing struts

the struts do not pry off, but are unscrewed. you will notice that there is a nut at each end of the strut where it connects to the hatch and the body (I believe that it is 13mm). I suggest propping up the hatch with a board to take the weight off of it as the old struts likely can no longer support the weight, and once you disconnect one, it hatch is very heavy. the threaded ends might be initially hard to remove, but they should come. hope this helps.

if you need to reuse the ball stud, just grind on the old strut
