replacing alternator brushes

I do not have a FSM for the 12 ht motor right now and am wondering how to change the brushes on the alt. Also can I do the replacement on the truck. The brushes come out as a unit of some sort dont they?
 
Brushes

its easy. on the bj60 any how. undo this and that and bolt the new one in. took me an hour in the middle of winter.
