Replaced power steering pump 97 fj80 at 220K miles due to seal leak. All good on startup w topping off reservoir w ATF. Steering wheel to left and right on ground w engine on- ok didn't see the wheels up engine off bleed procedure in Toyota service manual. Worked well with a few no power assist moments - thought bubbles. ok for 1/2mile then a few time no power assist and after 1mile all manual. Pulled new pump, seems smooth, put back on, followed wheels up engine off bleed steps 5x topped off. still no power assist w engine on. Something blocked in a valve? In steering gear? High pressure pump valve? ABS? Prob will put old pump back on next Thanks. Note also listed same on 100 forum my error

Gears on the teeth look good?

Relief valve stuck or assembled wrong?

Thanks for the replies, found the Flow control valve on the high pressure side of new pump sitting lower in the pump body
Old leaky pump works just fine... See attached right is old good pump.
