I'm considering having some minor preventative maintenance :wrench: and a minor mod or repair or two on my '03 TLC (45,000 miles).

What are your experiences with Toyota Dealer, Other Dealers (Such as Infiniti) or an Independent Shop that specializes in imports - say Toyota/Honda.

I am in the Memphis Area....any reputable repair shops/mechanics would be greatly appreciated.

I know all Dealers/Shops aren't going to be the same....just curious about your thoughts. To give some more details, I am considering the following:

New Bilstein Shocks
Grease Drive Shaft
Check Brakes/Rotors
Changes fluids to Synthetic

I am going to call local Dealers for quotes....will post that when I have it.

THANKS, as always, for your informed opinions!

read the "belt issues" thread in the 80 section...

unless you've got money to burn...you can do that all yourself. your list is all pretty much a 1  deal.

...unless youre only at a .001  level

your cruiser will love you more if you do as much as you can yourself...

Take the money you would be spending on labor and PITA picking up & dropping off your vehicle, go get the tools, and do the work your self. You'll learn how, you'll have some nice tools (don't buy cheap ones), and you'll eventually save money. And, if you're careful, you'll do it the right way the first time.
