Does your door swing open wide on a sidehill ? And hit other car ?
Having a hard time getting out of the cruiser because the door wouldn’t hold open ?

Well you need some new door check it seems 😄😄

Nothing too biggie there , they are still available for about 55 dollars a piece, so you are looking at about 220 and about 10-15 mins per door,

Dont have 220 to spend on door checks ?
Well here something for you, which only costs 25-26 dollars and about 30 mins per door (less for experienced folks)

This is the product i found on ebay
Door Check Repair Kit Stay Strap Stopper Replace for Toyota and Lexus (4 doors) | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Door-Check-Repair-Kit-Stay-Strap-Stopper-Replace-for-Toyota-and-Lexus-4-doors-/293470918933?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

Its a fairly easy task ,

Heres the step by step

🚪 🚪 Removing door panels 🚪 🚪

1. Remove 4 screws in the door panel , 1 in the door bezel , 1 Under the door hand , 2 hidden under the arm rest
2. One the panel is out , unscrew the speakers
3. I found it was easier to access the door check from the speaker area as it right behind the door checks

## Removing Door check

1- remove the 3 bolts holding the door check , pull it out from the speaker area ,

## Installing the new fixators
1. The fixators you bought from ebay goes into this box here
2. To install the new parts, we need to take apart the small box
3. located the weld marks on the box and drill it,
4. Ones the weld marks have been drilling, the plate will fall right off ,
5. Inside the box is a piece of rubber block on both sides of the rod , pinching in the old fixators
6. Pay attention to how the parts are fit in there , they are directional , take a picture if needed (I forgot 😬)
7. Take the glue supplied and apply on the rod and and the bulged out side of the new fixator,
8. Install in the correct orientation
9. The flat part on the fixator is where the rubber block fits, the bulged out part , faces the rod
10. Place the cover plate back on , dont worry about welding it or anything , the bolts will keep it in place ,
11. Slide it in and bolt it in

You have new door checks 😄😄

Nice work. My 9yrld son has demolished about 4 cars when he opens the LC door while parked on a hill.

Has anybody been able to find these repair kits recently? Looks like the eBay seller is no longer shipping to US and I can't find them anywhere else. I'd hate to pay $50-60 for each door.

68610-60020 Check Assy, Front Door [08.1992 -] FZJ80,HDJ80,HZJ80 $33.41 Amayama Japan

68630-60030 Check Assy, Rear Door [08.1992 -] FZJ80,HDJ80,HZJ80 $33.41 Amayama Japan

68617-20011 Pin(For Front Door Check) [08.1992 -] FZJ80,HDJ80,HZJ80 (same front & rear)

It must be the crazy exchange rate (140 JPY to the USD), because Amayama's Japanese prices are beating everything else right now.

Good call! That is much cheaper than I've been able to find.

Right now the US dollar is really strong in the world market.
