Removing the spring center pin? (1 Viewer)

My cruiser is leaning. I ordered the shim from CCOT and it came with a longer center pin. Do I need to install this longer pin? If I do, what is the easiest and best way to remove the old center pin from the leaf pack.

I guess I should have said the I have have the 2 1/2" black diamond lift installed.

Not certain, but to do this safely, I think the spring needs to be unloaded, and then the spring pack clamped together with some big clamps...

you will either need to put the shim in the leaf pack(clamped in with center pin) or you will need a center pin with a larger head or an extension, depending on the type of shim.

large c clamp works fine for holding springs when you pull the pin.

Okay, I'll share mine.

Job: Install shims to correct caster angle.
Wrong Procedure: jack up cruiser, put jack stand under little bracket that
holds spring leaves parallel, use wrench to undo spring pin nut. The pin just
locates the spring perch, right?

Result: As nut comes off spring pin, whole spring pack comes apart with a loud
"bang" and, since the little bracket is now only attached to one now-free
spring leaf, jack stand gets ejected from underneath cruiser.

Saving Grace: Wheel placed underneath frame in case "something" happens. Tire
takes weight of cruiser rather than owner's chest.

Lesson: Use c-clamps to hold spring pack together and use frame to hold vehicle
up, not springs.

sheesh.. i always take my springs off the truck to remove the center pin

but hten again, that could be why i can replace an entire 40 suspension in about 2-3 hours... way too much practice
