G'day. I am removing the 2H from my 60 for an engine swap. My question is can I just remove the 4 bolts connecting the bell housing to the transmission or do I need to split the engine from the bell housing?

My manual says to split from bellhousing but I'm not made of rubber and can't see how I'm going to get to all the bolts.

It is right hand drive and a 5spd.

Any help would be great. thanks

I've only done it on a 2F, but if tranny is the same, just the 4 bolts, tranny to bellhousing, will do it. That's how I did mine ... You'll probably need to get those top bolts through the floor cut-outs for the shifter.

Good luck

the only way i can see you getting those bolts out is through the floor inside the cab, even then its a littel tricky, i had my seats and carpet out at the time so it made it a little easier, good luck

Thanks for the replies. I did get it out by removing the bell housing from the tranny. I haven't had a good look yet at how the thrust bearing secures to the fork but they have come adrift in the process. Hopefull I can get it all back together.

edit: according to the manual there is only one clip retaining the thrust bearing so all is good :)

Nah man. Either a 30" socket extension or a box end wrench does it.
