remote central locking

I wanted the same exact thing.
After searching I found the following product
http://www.viper.com/P-412V/Viper-211hv-1-way-Keyless-Entry-System

I had seen cheap remote door unlock/lock products but they were so cheesy.
This is a Viper product. It is not an alarm, it is a remote door unlock/unlock module that comes with 2 quality remotes, like the ones you would get from a car manufacturer.
It has a bunch of other bells and whistles like car disabling, it can flash lights or beep horn, it can unlock a trunk separately.
However, I specifically wanted a unit that would just unlock and lock all the doors using the remote.
The module has built in relays which helps with the typical land cruiser issue of not having relays and the low power signal sent to the actuators.
So this helps with the issue that many have with sticking locks.
You need to cut some wires that go from the driver door master switch to the other doors.
I installed it and it works great.
One thing to consider is the power source. Most people would just take the live power source that is already in the driver door and goes to the master switch.
I opted to run a new clean power source to the Viper module. The existing old wiring is restricted and doesn't have much juice.

thanks for the reply mate! i guess what im asking is, can this unit be wired into the cars factory master lock unlock module? and if so how would i go about it?

hi guys,

I own a hj61 and it has the power door locks, is it possible to wire up a unit like this: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=120792881786 to the main switch on the drivers door to make it remote central locking?

thanks in advance for any help:cheers:

I think the problem may be that the one on the eBay does not reverse the polarity for locking and unlocking.
Meaning there are 2 wires that go to the actuators. How the power is applied (pos/neg or neg/pos) to the actuator wires depends on whether you are locking or unlocking.
A straight pos and neg feed would only lock or unlock, but not both.

I assume yours is 24v? Might make it a bit more limited to what you can find.

I've got a cheap, about $20 unit fitted to mine, it had a few different wiring options to reverse polarity on lock unlock. I pretty had 4 wires for locking and unlocking, and depending which combination I used, could make it do pretty much whatever I wanted.

Have not had a problem, has great range, and came with 2 remotes.

Something like this is what I've got: http://www.ebay.com/itm/C/141049265123

Though not sure about a 24V option.

Edit: This is the one i have, and yea, I'm in Australia

certainly is, your set up sounds exactly like what I am after.. Thanks for the info! and chance you have a wiring diagram of how you hooked it up?

It came with a wiring diagram, and instructions to install, I tested it all before I did the final join of all the wiring. But yea, I believe you need two wires which switch polarity, pretty sure thats how the switch in the drivers door works. Has power and earth in, and it sends it out on two wires, positive and negative get swapped to the other wires (changed polarity) when it locks or unlocks. So you need a system to will send power out on two wires for lock, and on the same 2 wires with reversed polarity for unlock.

But you'll need to find some way of dealing with the 24v thing, thats gonna be more the problem I reckon.
