Reman alternator question (1 Viewer)

Need a new alternator for my 80. Local dealer has a reman Denso for 238 + tax. I noticed Amazon has a reman Denso for 150, and Carid has it listed for 125.80. Are these the same, and/or rebuilt with the same oe parts as the one the dealer sells? Just wondering..thanks

They are not rebuilt by Factory, rather 3rd party.

Red Merle: what was written on the box your alternator came in, any indication of where it was remanufactured? Same for the sticker on the alternator, does it say "Denso Reman"?

I am 6 hours from the alternator right now. I know the box says Denso, but I didn't look at it that closely, I just held it next to the Toyota one that was in the truck and they look the same. I will take a closer look when I get home on Friday and post a pic for you guys with them side by side.

Just a thought, something I considered was just replacing the brushes if that is the issue and you are on a budget. I decided to go new since I am refreshing a bunch of stuff along with a HG job and just wanted it, but the brushes are only like $15 and everyone seems to think that is all that is needed usually and it looks like a job once you get the alternator out. If yours is more messed up, you might be in for a new one and the Denso one looks good to me. I have heard other folks having issues with some of the cheaper no-name brand re-pops that are out there.

Yep, I replaced the brushes and it still tests bad. Definitely want a Denso. Thanks.

Write the install date on Label with Sharpie or Put Miles and Date on RockAuto Receipt and put in Glovebox.

I have a file for each vehicle I own. I learned that from my Dad, who has never had a car payment in 70 years. I may write when it went in on the unit though. I kinda make my own wiring system notes on the plugs and stuff. It helps get the right unit plugged into the right plug.
