When I went 2 years ago our group sort of took over the lower camping area and I thought it was a nice spot. A bit away from the crazy stuff but not on the far side of the field.
Short walk to the bath house/ showers and was just a nice area. I have it circled in red on the map below. If we can't all travel together to the event we can hopefully meet up there and camp as a group.... what is everyone's feelings on that idea?
BTW a quick look ahead at the weather and it seems OK for now... mid 70's and lows in the 50's so will not have to have heaters running or anything.
I am going to bring my propane powered Lil' Red Campfire along because camping without a fire is just wrong but since folks like Blowers and Stump are not coming down with their trailers there is a fair chance we will not have firewood like we normally do for a big old fire every night.

That spot works for me. I was back in the trees to the left last year with lots of leaves. Dropped a few small items that were never recovered.

BTW - I'm planning on bringing the small Solo fire pit and some firewood.

Looks like we are down to just 5 with 3 unknowns at this point... a small showing but hopefully we can still carry on the proud tradition of winning the big raffle grand prize !!

Remember guys the NC Club supports our Fall Crawl with quite a few members coming up let's return the favor!
I am looking forward to hittthg the trails down there but even more so relaxing around camp with you guys and just taking a break from the real world for a few days!
@landwagon - Are you joining us again this year?

There’s firewood available on Mullinix Rd near camp. Can’t recall if the guy is just before or just after the entrance. I’m sure there are other sources. We’ve had a load delivered in the past but it was hardly ever used so we’ve not done it again. I don’t think people down here are too much into bonfires when it’s only 60*F at night.

I wasn't thinking of a bonfire but just a small fire because... Well it's camp TV 🤣

No, I’m out this year. To much going on and not enough time off.
we will miss you and the wife... One of these days id like to actually ride a trail with you but im not doing those hard ones like you are yet

Motor back together and running good. I will be going. Going to trailer the 40 down on Thursday.
when are you planning on leaving on thurs? what time? Taking 95 down? or a different route?

Well if your bringing the solo then Ill leave the propane one home then.
What is your time frame for leaving now?

It's almost time.... now comes the questions on when and how folks are planning on going down?
For me I took off Wend to pack and all but in my normal OCD state I will most likely be ready to go and packed on Tues evening except for food and perishables that will of course be prepped and ready in the fridge.
So I could leave Wens morning if i felt like it OR Thursday.

Since I am coming from Baltimore area 95s makes the trip the fastest time BUT damn it is no fun to drive. I also have the option of just about any other route if there is anyone that will want to convoy down. I am not looking to make a speed run but a nice leisurely pace is what I have in mind. With the GX loaded with all the gear I will just have it on cruise control at like 65 -70 .... have to save gas where I can.

If everyone that is going would like to post their latest travel plans times and locations and maybe we can get a few of us together for the drive.
Just beware that I will want to stop at a Waffle House at LEAST 1 time !!

There isn't a big group this time sadly.

Also there are a few still tagged with some ??? that we don't know their travel status.

@prharper @doseman @davidp14
I am pretty sure I will end up taking 29 down myself when I drive down on Thursday morning.

That being said would you guys like to meet up somewhere like perhaps Charlottesville VA in the morning ? I do not know of any good spots that are easy to get too so if you know of any please speak up.

The Southern States gas station on 29 near the Culpeper airport is a meeting place we've used before.

I remember that from when I went down 2 years ago but it seems like the others are south of it and it wouldnt make sense to go up to come back down again. rather find a place where not everyone is back tracking ....
But I am open to suggestions....
If not... I will see those that are going at the camp site!

Figure out where your southernmost connection to 29 will need to be. I'll find you a place to meet. I'm a wee bit familiar with 29. BTW, the old rug shop south of Warrenton that always had the giant Marilyn Monroe rug on the rack outside the store closed down last year. As of a couple weeks ago it's now a vape/CBD shop with...yes, a new Marilyn Monroe rug outside.

Also, I remember once going north from Danville, VA to @matzell's place in Richmond off 95. It was a really nice 2 lane trip but I'm not sure of the differences in time or distance vs 95 to 29. Lots of variables. Maybe he can refresh my memory on the route.

I am thinking you may have come up 360?? I will be heading down 95-85-40. I will be in the Duramax pulling the 40, so highways are not a big deal for me.

I'll be picking up rt 29 off rt6 in woods mill south of Charlottesville. I hope to be there around 9 or 930. There's a few gas stations right near there if you're close at that time. I'm happy to delay leaving a bit for the sake of having a convoy.

I checked with the Outpost. They are now open till 9pm if you want to stop and get your trail passes the night before. I will not be down till close to dark on Thursday night unless plans change.

if you could hold off to like 10 - 10:30... its almost 3 hours to that point for me and i would like to not leave at 6am .LOL,
If i leave about 7 i can be in frederick at 730-7:40... have waffle house and be down there about 10 to 10:30....
If thre is a Royal Farms or Sheetz that would be great to fill up and all then back on the road for a few hours then take a lunch stop then back on the road
Not sure if it will be a convoy but itll be a Clan of 2 at least
