Hello everyone,

I'm planning on regearing the diffs to help all the weight I put on him over the years. I have an appointment with Arizona Differential near grand Ave. Has anyone used them before or could recommend some place different that is closer to Gilbert? Those hills to Payson has been taxing on my coolant temps so I'm hoping this helps.

Overall it seems reasonable with parts and labor around $1,700.

Thoughts?

I've been quoted $2500-$3500 parts labor fj80 to 4.88s no lockers. $1500 just labor (not rebuilding front end either)... finally az differential specialists quoted me around $1k labor. Late March appt.

Sounds like a good deal

Zuk is considered 'The Gear Whisperer' the world over. Just dumb luck he happens to be in our back yard. He did mine in December and his work is unrivaled. He knows which parts to swap out from the kits and nobody documents their work as thoroughly as he does.

someday i wish to be considering "The _____ Whisperer"... i don't even care what it is :p

Zuk redid my rear third that AZ Diff did not do to spec, for what it’s worth. I had a whine that eventually turned into a grinding experience. After Zuk worked his magic, it felt like a new car.
Did you go to Az differential or Arizona Differential? Different places.

I got the quote from Arizona Differential. My buddy had his XJ regeared there and it was a good experience from his point of view

I'm not very bright but I think these guys are saying to go to "Zuk" which is the owner of the website Gearinstalls.com.

Last I heard Zuk is $450 per 3rd if you bring them to him. He will get it right. One of those two (not sure if it’s az or Arizona differential) is completely incompetent and only survives off of peoples confusing who think they are going to the other place. I would go for Zuk, but you will have to pull the 3rds yourself.

For whatever it’s worth, I have blown up a LOT of Toyota diffs, but never one that Zuk has built. The cheapest bid is never the best, and Zuk is middle of the road price wise and light years better in quality.

I have his phone number, I can ask him if anyone local wants some work done.

There's this gear god, I think his name is Zuk...

He's done a lot of work for me and people I know, always excellent results.

just got off the horn with ZUK, says he thought he would be doing a 3rd less buisiness going locals only but he's as busy as ever.

Lol, I've sent him so much business, I wonder if he even wants it?

AFAIK, Zuk only does gear installs. He does not pull/install diffs into axles.
