So I'm tired of looking at my stock rig and I'm puting wheels and tires on it. After looking thru the gear sticky, I desided just to ask what you all are running.
I plan on putting on 33x11.5's and I will mostly driving like 80%hwy, and 20% expedition. What do ya'll think I should get? I'm going to get complete drop-ins so I don't have to worry about r/p alignment. (Did it once, and its worth the extra $150-200 to get the whole thing.)

for just highway and light wheeling would not the stock gears be fine?

Are you an auto/manual 4, or 5 speed....???? You need to add more info. Putting a signature on your profile with your rig and year helps responses.

Bone stock '89 FJ62. I have some hwy tire on there from the PO, and the best MPG I've seen was 14. They are 31" true, and I think that If I go any bigger, I'll just lose more mileage.

What size wheels you going to run 33x 11.5's? There are not a lot of tire makers that make 33 x 11.5's. If you have 16", then there are a lot of options with 285x 75 which are the same size.

Ok.. Just say your new post. You already have 4.11's since it is a 62. Maybe a 62 owner with 4.56's can tell you how it drive with 33's.

Ok, Thanks... I havn't really been able to put my finger on a wheel/tire set yet. I WANT 33's on a 17" rim... For looks. I know I know, :bounce: don't kill me. But no one makes them with the right Bspaceing. We'll have to see.

I got a 62 with the 4:11 and have been running 33 12.50s for over a year now and it is fine. On hills it gets a little slow and has to shift into 3rd if it gets steep but I dont mind. Just got back from heading to montana and I got about 15 ot 16 MPG with them the bigger tires is an overdrive on the highway lowering the rpms and getting better MPG. You will be fine just throw them on there and drive it for a while and if you dont like how it drives then you can regear.

Did you have to lift your front to clear the tires? I would think that they would rub when you turn.

17" rims can have a LOT more BS and not hit the TRE's..

So Mace, are you saying that maybe I could put a 17" with 4.5" on there on not hit the TRE? I think that the tire would still be to far into the wheel well. I'm thinking of getting those anyway, and putting on some 1.5" spacers, then i would have a 1" wider stance overall.
