Thule Trailer - Model 1700 (N1205 Cargo Pro Trailer)

Price: $1,250

Purchased new in 2007 in Virginia, original owner. Very rare. No longer imported into the U.S. Trailer is made by Brenderup for Thule. Parts still available, there are a couple of companies in Europe that will ship to the United States. Or other parts can be sourced here as replacements.

In Trailer Tech, the New Thule Trailer thread was started by me back in '07 and this is that trailer.

I’m not using the trailer anymore, and time to let it go, and reclaim the space in my garage. Clean title in hand. Have the original bill of sale.

Trailer is located in Redding, Connecticut (local pick-up only). Cash only.

4' x 7' x 16" cargo bed area
47 cu. ft. storage capacity with lid
Load capacity: 1,252 lbs.
Trailer weight: 401 lbs.
GVW: 1653 lbs.
Inside there are six D-Ring style tie-downs for securing cargo
V-shaped drawbar (tongue) reduces possibility of swaying
Locking top lid – key included
  • Just replaced the gas strut support arms for the plastic shell top
  • Full size spare tire mounted on factory steel rim
  • Custom cut plywood bedliner to protect floor (just stained)
  • Installed LED spot-lights on inside lid (2)
Condition:
  • Overall condition is very good for its age
  • Always garage kept and stored on jack-stands
  • Never used in winter, so it has never seen road salt
  • Tires are in great condition, no cracking or dry-rot
  • Used only for a dozen longer trips over the years, summer camp with the boy scouts, and family vacations to the woods or beach
  • Estimate it only has about 3,500 miles of use
  • Stickers can be removed
  • Small dent on front of trailer
  • Black Paint is peeling on one of the wheel wells, driver side
  • One side marker like is not working, rear on passenger side, just needs a new bulb
Unique features:
  • Tailgate can be dropped down for easier loading / unloading
  • Lightweight, at roughly 400 pounds dry, a small car can pull it
  • Aerodynamic design, narrow, and economical to pull
  • High ground clearance
  • Locking lid
  • Plastic Lid can be removed
  • Have used several times in heavy rain and inside has remained completely dry
  • Can be moved around manually/by hand, and stored easily under a deck, in a back yard, garage, or side of house
  • Good platform for build out of an adventure style lightweight trailer with a rack system, etc. (larger wheels/tires can be added)
  • Great for camping
  • Also does well on sand, because its light weight

Here is the link to the thread in Trailer Tech. Gives you an idea what others have done with these Thule trailers, mods, builds, etc.

bump for an awesome light weight trailer. I own one of these and they are fantastic. You can see all the mods I made to mine in the link @VA Runner posted above.

Just sold the trailer, to someone local here in CT.

Sold it for $1,000 cash. Good guy that lives here locally, plans to use for camping with his young son. Going to good place. Hooked it up to his modified Jeep. I had listed it on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace.
