Any rcommendations for buying recovery gear items such as snatch blocks, cable, etc. (pound loads, etc). Please recommnend the top most important recovery items for my rig. FYI, I don't have a winch yet but expect to get one in the future.

If you do not have this already and/or have a thorough understanding of safe and proper recovery practices this is a great DVD to own (mandatory in my opinion as a basic guide/starting point).

And I have purchased quite a bit of my recovery gear from 4x4 connection: http://www.4x4connection.com/

But Kurt at CruiserOutfitters, as listed above, is a great guy and supporter of "MUD!

  • High Lift jack, a 48" will do unless you have some crazy built buggy. Or have a really slinkey suspension
  • 6' or 8' tree saver strap.
  • 25' or 30' Tow strap with loop ends. Do not buy the ones with open hooks.
  • 3 shackles for attaching the strap together. Make sure they have a good load rating on them.
You can use the highlift as a winch to ratchet yourself unstuck.

Once you get a winch then you can buy a snatch block.
