Recanvas FJ40soft doors Help Please (1 Viewer)

i just got a set of FJ40 soft top doors, they need to have new canvas put on them. My wife is handy with fabric ( I have a FJ40 she has 4 sewing machines). So I have help.

Can anyone give suggestions on the project or lead me to a thread?

I know were to get my bows and Throllhole for the top. Figure I will sell my drive/passenger door, top and side and my ambulance doors. So it won’t be a big cost. My 1972was orgianaly a soft top. So plan to take it back to factory.

Oh that is a fantastic idea! I plan to get their top, pretty simple to match he doors.

Another thought would be to use the same thread she will use in combo with your top. Maybe she’d sell you some or tell you where she buys it. I imagine she chooses thread color based on top material you choose.

Pretty sure Trollhole went away from traditional cotton canvas. Now it’s a weatherproof, longer lasting synthetic. You probably know that. I’d like a Trollhole someday.....look forward to seeing what you come up with

There is no sewing to the doors... it’s actually not bad to do... just time consuming
