going to be taking my alternator off as its throwing out 16-18 volts ( not good is it?) and have it bench tested. does napa have good rebuilt ones?
was looking at mean green but there isnt one listed for 91-92 ???

could just do the brush kit but pretty sure im hearing bearing noise from there as well.

any rebuilt ones to seek out or avoid? its a reman on there already, least thats what the sticker says

personaly I would get a new reman alt from Toyota, thats what I reppaced mine with at 110k and at 220k, not any high amp units made for the 3fe. Personaly I would not get a parts store re build or re man.

I would only use two alternators on the 80, either the factory part, or a Bosch rebuilt (essentially oem). Reason is many rebuilts are only new brushes, no new bearings or anything else. You replace the alternator and 6 months later you need to do it again because the bearing goes south.

That said, you may be able to just put a new voltage regulator in the one you have.
