Rear won't unlock (1 Viewer)

Something has gone wrong with the rear upper lift gate on my 2004. It won't unlock. It unlocks for a second then relocks automatically. Can someone tell me what is going on? Yesterday I was able to unlock it by using the key ti unlock the drivers door, but now that doesn't work. I can't get the key in the lock at the rear door because it hasn't been used in so long.

No. It's completely empty back there. The time I was able to get it open yesterday I made sure that thr child safety switch wasn't on, it wasn't.

Does the rear have an actuator like the other doors? I'm guessing yes and if so it might be that the motor has failed. This is common in Lexi and Toyoti.
