In searching the archives I didn't find anything definitive about how to remove the rear nozzle without destroying it and the FSM offers no detail so......for posterity about how to remove the rear squirter nozzle:

1. Using a very small flat screwdriver gently remove the rubber collar/ring at the base of the nozzle, which acts as a spacer. Now the nozzle is loose where you can see its shaft.

2. You will see two small "ears" trying to peek up out of the hole on each side of the nozzle shaft. These have to be pressed all the way in against the shaft so that it will release itself from the hatch hole. I used a pair of long, thin needle-nose pliers to squeeze in on both ears while pulling out on the nozzle and eventually it came out. You may need to use two very small flat screwdrivers between the edges of the hole and the ears to pry them up and out, but be careful as that can damage your paint.

3. Now remove the grommet from inside the hatch and disconnect the line from the inline connector where it enters the body. The nozzle and hose stub will now come out and should be in reusable condition.

Old thread but I figured Id add to it a little since it helped me.

If you do not have a small enough pair of pliers to compress the 2 plastic ears try the following.

1) Use a small flat screw driver (I put a bend near the tip so it fit better) to push in one ear while gently pulling on the nozzle. The clip on that side should release and one side of the nozzle will pop out.

2) There is a "key" molded into the round nozzle body that prevents it from twisting. This key is at the bottom of the nozzle. Now that you have one clip undone it is possible to tilt the nozzle down so the key no longer prevents twisting and rotate it so that the second clip releases when it hits the key notch in the body.

This method isnt as intrusive and will lessen the chances of scratching the paint.

PS I love mud for silly little things like this that have you stumped.

Mine was removed when the PO's wife backed out of the Garage with the hatch up......

I may have an extra when I do the hatch swap......

Thanks for all the tips, especially this one. It helped me to get the squirted out undamaged.
