i've got a 3 spd housing with four spd gears. aa adapter from a nv4500. the bearing that goes on the back of the transfer case and has that cone shaped cover over it- my question is should that bearing fit snug into the back of the tcase? it's snug on the output shaft, but it just slides right into the back of the housing. i was expecting to hammer it in there with a block of wood or something. anybody know if i might have the wrong bearing? the part # i took to napa was 6306-32r-2nsl and they crossed it over to grw 114r and the measurements are id-1.2598 od-2.8346 and w-.7480

I do not have exact specs, but I have seen that bearing 'slip' into housings before....but I have also had to tap them into place...

As long as there is not any serious, measureable movement in the shaft up and down in the bearing boss, you should be fine.

Good luck with this tcase, hopefully it does not meet the same fate as your last one!
