Can anyone tell me if the rear tailgate lock cylinder set is the same for the FJ60 and FJ62? I have a 1989 FJ62 and purchased part (69055-90A06) from www.Toyotapartsdeal.com I brought it to a shop to be installed and the shop is telling me

"the Insert is different so it would leave one connector unplug, it looks like this was for Manual Lock and you have Electrical"

Does that sound right to anyone? Everything I see online lists the same part number for both the 60 and 62. The shop sent me these photos to show what they were talking about.

Your cruiser is 30 years old. Toyota has been consolidating similar parts that can work across models as the supplies dry up. The new lock cylinder mat not be identical to the original, but it will "work well enough" to be usable, if only manually. Just be glad there's anything available at all from Toyota for your cruiser

my part number source shows the same lock set part number for 1982 and later FJ60 and the FJ62 WITHOUT POWER WINDOW. There is a different part number for the lockset if you have power windows. I'm not sure how the rear hatch lock is related to power windows--maybe power windows and locks were a bundled option.

toyotapartsdeal.com shows 69055-90A11 is NLA, but www.amayama.com says they have 10 in stock...

This thread has your same pictures. It seems the power lock is different than non-power.

What was wrong with your original lock cylinder?

My car was stolen 😡 and recovered 😁 but the person who stole it had a set of keys so I needed to get it rekeyed. The shop my insurance company sent me to had a hard time finding parts and/or a locksmith that could do the work. They finally found a locksmith but for some reason he could not rekey the original cylinders so I sourced the new lock cylinders and apparently the one I was sent for the back hatch was the wrong one.

@ToyotaMatt could probably help you out. Glad you got it back!

You simply need to be dealing with T-TEN trained & certified TOYOTA vehical

Lock and Key Specialist...........

-

-
You are getting 100% incorrect information from both TOYOTA Parts Deal

as well as your current Locksmith who was assigned by your insurance company ...

-, first of all parts deal either winged it or did not care about there paying clients enough to ask for and key punch your 17 digit VIN in DEALER DAILY EPC , ,it will flag the power package option most but not all of the time , second they then if epc not flag ask you the customer
if you have pwr. package or not ?

these are very elementary toyota dealership skill sets , that rapid turn around super store dealer parts dept. lack big time in the year 2020

second , without a shadow of a doubt , the rear hatch push button lock

is simply NOT Re-key or Re-code able , NOBODY and NO business

globally sells or ever made a replacement face cap for the rear hatch required to be pried OFF , for a re-key code change

if anyone has information regarding a available rear push button 60/62
series , face cap that must get re-pressed back on with a SST of some sort PLEASE absolutely post it .........!

i sent you a PM with some detailed info. to help get you out of this struggle

i will talk to you soon ........

kindly matt :)
