I had to find a bad wire in the back of my 80 the other day, my "clearance light" or running lights weren't working, and I had to dig into the side storage panels to get to some wiring and realized I had a bunch of oil and recovery straps in there that I had totally forgotten about and never used when I needed.

Anyways, it's nice to have storage space, but not if you loose or forget crap you need in it, what are you guys using the space for, or rather how should I be using that space more efficiently, I'm starting to think I should get a water bladder or use it for some sort of fixed equipment, I've got a shovel, high lift, axe recovery gear and tools already in easier to access locations, and have the 3rd row in.

Anyone come up with a smarter use of the storage compartments? Feel free to post pics or random ideas.

On the right, I keep my LED lighting and cordage in there. Have thought about a water bladder, but not in the budget yet.

On the left, it's pretty much what Mr. T and the previous owner left me...but haven't looked in there recently, so I may have some useful stuff stashed in there, too.

I think the sloshing noise from most water bladders would drive me crazy. I have a bunch of spare parts, a few tools, and a BlueSea fuseholder wired to the batt (through a relay and circuit breaker) stuffed back there.

Flares. Triangles. Safety vest. More flares.

In that small space on the right. Since i 4 wheel in the desert i carry a Small belt size Desert survival kit that includes, signal mirror, fire starter, tinder, snare wire, knife, compass, multi tool, flex saw, life boat matches.

Just a random assortment of straps, line, fluids, etc... but this makes me realize I really should get in there and clean them out and organize them. Also last week discovered traces of water and rust, so I need to chase down the leaks and seal them up. Or just install some of these fancy gull wing windows that are available.

Flares, jumper cables, tow strap & shackles, flashlight.

I keep rachet straps & more recovery gear (basically the Warn entry level kit), and gloves & a pair of Carhartt bib overalls in a crappy looking backpack that's strapped through the 1/2" steel round stock for the 3rd row pivots on the rear wheelwells.

The crappy old sunfaded pack is so nobody thinks it has anything great in it, and the backpack straps are lashed so it doesn't go airborne in any emergency moves or a trail move where everything experiences 'zero gravity' for a couple seconds.

And a 2nd / primary flashlight stays in the lower compartment of the console - '2 is 1, 1 is none' -mentality.

First aid kit on the right, Toyota tools on the left, survival and recovery tools in the tailgate.

Left side has jack stand and tools along with a set of jumpers, winch controller and a d-ring. Right side I was able to stuff in a recovery strap and a tree saver.
