Rear shifting/swaying?

That is nasty. The brake backing plate has a rather large hole in it. I would be curious to see how serious that rust is . Panhard bar and shocks need to be looked at first. Are the tires properly inflated? Sway bar end links attached at both ends ? Look at all 4 of the rear axle arms and make sure they have serviceable bushings. Make sure they are not sitting in broken mounts based on that amount of rust.

Yea brake backing plate are on the list of things for me to replace .

Tires are properly inflated. Sway bar end links seem to be attached on both ends. I'll have a better look this weekend.

When you reference the rear axle arms, apologies as I'm still learning the various terms. Is this the upper and lower control arms? Bushings are on my list as well. I'll add the mounts to my list of things to inspect.

Here is a new pic. Unfortunately, this was as close as I was able to get to.

Try to get a similar pic from above the crossmember that the top of the shock goes through. There is a narrow space up there.

The shock looking cleaner than the surroundings is encouraging, but the clean/smooth section sticking out the end of the shaft or lack of it is the way to tell for sure.

I'll get a pic this weekend.

Additional note, realized that the shifting/swaying only happens when I approach the lip of the garage from the left. When I approach it from the right, I don't notice too much shifting/swaying if any at all. I'll focus a bit more time on the left side of the vehicle.
