I was pulling off the stuff I could to black out and got to the. The vent cover and gasket pulled off without issue but right behind both sides was a piece of black plastic about the size of a playing card. On the top of the plastic looks like there were two staples holding it on but had since broken away.

I THINK I see where they come from by shining a light up the vent I can see another vent that then goes into the back of the truck. It looks as though it allows air to escape out of the truck but its supposed to stop air from going in. Sound right?

Should I be trying to re-attach these or should I just toss them? What else could they be for?

If someone needs pics I guess I could go and take some :meh:

Yeah I have mine i box from when I blacked out those vent, always wondered what they were for and whether I could put it back. Funny thing is only one had dropped down...assuming there's one on each side.

Yup both sides have it because I found it behind both vents :D

Hey Joey, you'll get more dust in the cargo area if you leave them off.
The plus is that you can re-install them very easily, just pull the rest of the black plastic part out, the whole thing just comes right out the opening where you removed the outer grill, there are no interior fasteners or anything, then the whole thing slides right back in.

See that's what I thought. That would explain all the freaking dust that covers the back of the truck when I went to Death Valley this last time. I guess I will get those suckers to budge. I guess then I shouldn't be driving around without the vents on then :p
