Rear main seal retainer removal 1fz fe

i am in the middle of tearing this motor down and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this rear seal retainer off. The FSM doesn't specify how to do it, and a search doesn't turn up any info. What am I missing? What I think is a spacer with 10 holes, that the flex plate bolts to, should come off. But how?

Work it off with a screwdriver or pry bar. Just don't be too rough on the retainer while prying.

I think mine just had four bolts . In your picture they would be under the crank center here your mount is. Once you get those out, all that holds it on is the FIPG. Give it some hammer taps

I've got the retainer loose, it won't go over the spacer. (The part with 10 bolt holes). What am I doing wrong.?

Leave it on until you pull the crankshaft.

the front spacer can be removed its just on there you need to pry it off. I just did this when I changed my rear main. its stuck on but can be pry'ed off hit it with a hammer and just wiggle it out with some screwdrivers.

That's what I figured but I wanted assurance before I started trying to remove it.
