I've been scouring for a while and I'm looking for a way to tell if I need to pull the actuator off the rear axle or not. The rear locker worked as of a couple months ago, and the front still does. I dont hear any motor whirring when I switch the rear on, but I do when I switch the front on. I've seen some people discussing "jumping" the locker motor to see if it's the motor or an electrical issue. The wiring harness that leads to the position switch is reading ~12.8v when the switch is in the unlocked position, seems to lose voltage when turned "on". How can I "jump" the motor? which harness is it? do I need to pull the whole assembly off?
 
Follow the wires from the actuator motor to the first electrical connector and pull that apart. Test with a 9V battery, you can look at the EWD in the FSM to see which pins in the connector need to be jumped. There are a ton of threads on repairing the lockers from search:
