I have a huge favor to ask of any MUD members doing a restore on their 10/69-9/72 FJ40's.

My rear wiring harness is missing from about the gas gauge back and I am about to start building a new one. All I have is a schematic. I need to know lots more to build this back to OEM specs.

If you have an intact rear wiring harness out of your truck would you be willing to ship it too me so I can take some measurements and pics? I will pay to have it shipped to me, pay to ship it back and promise to return it in better shape than I receive it ( Unless you have already restored it) ;). While I may not have Poser's reputation, I think most here know I will take excellent care of the harness and return it promptly.

Another option would be to take a several measurements of your harness. PM, or Email me, or post here if you can help me out.

If you can hold off until June or so, I'll be moved down there and would be happy to drive my FJ40 over and help you. I'll be in New Albany, IN so you'd be less than 2 hours away. How close to OEM are you going? 'Perfect match' or 'works like a champ and is close enough'?

Do you mean sending unit in the tank, or, really from the instrument cluster rearward?

If this is for your 1971, you are going to want something 10/69-09/72. 09/72-08/73 use a different harness, just as the 09/73 and later. (four tail lamp system started then, opposed to the two lamp, earlier system)

I might have something....I will see what I can find.

My business partner lives in New Albany! Small world. Blue Grass Cruisers is in Lexington/Georgetown. I'm sort of a member, due to my work I can hardly ever make a meeting. :D You will have to come to a meeting sometime and check out the beautiful monster 3 bay garage one the the members has. Complete with a lift! It's where the meetings are held.

I'll see if Poser has what I need as I need it quicker than June. ;)

You are more than welcome to come to Lexington, check out the Cruiser and have a drink or three  My garage is a bit more humble...

Sorry. sending unit from the tank. I have the harness from the firewall plugs to the sending unit and a 6" stub of 4 wires after that.;) I made a replacement harness a couple of years ago but don't like it... Really want to document an OEM harness.

If you have a harness let me know. Even a harness not in the best of shape will work as long as I can get the dimensions from it.

I will give a recomendation for Coolerman. He will get it back to you and knowing him, probably clean it up and make it way to beautiful to put into a rig. You can trust him to get it back to you.

hey mate, im currently doing a ground up refit on an early 1970, about 2 years ago i pulled out the rear wiring section with the intention of replacing it all. im not too fussed about OEM so dont really have a use for it. its been in a box ever since, but from what i can remember its pretty roughed up. im going to be using it in the coming months to make up a new one, but after that it will prolly be up for grabs

only prob is that im in Perth Australia... not that thats really a biggy, i guess the real problem is that its not avail for a few months.

G'day and Welcome to MUD!

I appreciate the offer, I'll be on a plane tomorrow to come get it, so have it ready! ;)

Seriously, if I have not procured the one from Poser by then, I'll give you a shout. Shipping is really not that bad from down under, maybe I'll have you throw in a 5 speed or something to pad the box.
