Has anyone came up with a neat and functional item to hang on the rear swing doors? Any pics would be appreciated.

For the outside most of us use the rear bumper swing outs.

Because Toyota figured the only logical place to mount the spare was on the back they didn't feel the need of beefing up the hinges to carry the weight of more than the door. If you plan on using the cruise as it was intended I would put much weight on the door. If you keep it on paved works and they are fairly smooth could probably out a little more weight.
