Just a quick question. Were the "V8" and "Toyota" emblems ever placed on the tailgate rather than the hatch? I am interested in a 100 for sale locally. I'm assuming that it was involved in an accident. But just making sure before I drive down to take a look. Bumper looks askew as well. Thanks.

No, they were not. It could indicate an accident but not necessarily. Not the first time I've seen emblems placed somewhere other than originally intended. However the misalignment of the rear bumper is worth looking into. Good luck.

those bumper covers are so hokey, look at the mud flap on that side and all the screws + the metal hang down bracket inboard on same flap. Compare that to the passenger side and you should have an answer why it hangs lower.

What did the car fax history indicate?

All Carfax shows is an accident 10 years ago. Nothing else. Sometimes they've got some details of the crash on the report, but nothing showing on this one, unfortunately.

Thanks for the replies on the emblem. That's what I figured.

For the US LC/LX, it looks like it has the later "LAND CRUISER", which I don't recall having a separate "TOYOTA" badge, and the "V8" is done kinda like the LX, but lower and further out. Pretty sure that those are not the original emblems/badges.

Thanks, jLB! Looks like a mis-mash of emblems going on with this 100.

Took a look at it today. I can see why the emblems are the way they are. Rear bumper out of alignment, rear tail gate rusted, undercarriage rusted, interior looks like they used it to haul Land Rover engines, --overall, in bad shape. Search continues...
