Rear e-locker actuator info (1 Viewer)

Yesterday I swapped out a non-functional rear locker actuator with a new one. Having rebuilt the old one (apparently unsuccessfully) there were a few items during he rebuild that were not quite clear to me. One being the exposed length of the shift rod, the other the magnet orientation. A few photos of the new to help clarify these things.

Rod extension from the base of the ring is 65 mm.

I used a compass to find magnet orientation. This was a little less clear because I could not see the magnets (and not going to dis-assemble a new actuator to do so), but I think I have it correct.

On the compass red 1/2 of arrow points S, white 1/2 points N.

The extension and retraction of the rod is a critical issue to make sure that it unlocks and does not bind. It is set by the proper arrangement of the rack and pinion gears. There is an extensive treatise by RavenTai on this topic that you can find by searching. The orientation of the magnets determines the direction that the motor turns, so if you get this wrong, you will have to swap wires in the plug to make sure it turns in the proper direction.
