Rear drive shaft will not go back on. IT came off with really no problems. Slip yoke seems to be work. MY question is does the drive shaft slide all the way up on the slip yoke almost flush with front flang. Ie almost two inches from the end. It seems like if I had two more inch shaft would go back on. I have pushed yoke all the way in and it does not go in any further.

Any body take a lock at their cruiser and let me know if the slip yoke goes all the way in??

Take the grease zerk out of the slip joint then it will squeeze the extra grease out and allow the shaft to compress the rest of the way.

Grease zerk

Is there another name for this part. Were is it located

the "nipple where you fill the slip with grease is called a "zerk"

X2 on this, this is def. your problem

It is easier to put in if the truck is on the ground slightly compressed. As you lift the truck the axle moves forward and as the suspension compresses the axle move back.

X3 on the grease zerk, or nipple as it's called in OZ.
Remove it and push the tailshaft as far forward on the slip joint as it will go.
Grease will ooze out the hole where the nipple was fitted and this will let the slip joint move to a fully compressed state.

do you have it bolted to the rear axle first?... if so it might help to undo it from the axle... and then bolt to the flange first then the rear axle...
