Over the weekend I had a chance to get the old FJ out in a pretty bad rain storm and did really well with no issues at all inside the cabin. When I pulled her in the garage, I noticed there was water droplets all over the inside window on the right rear ambulance door as well as a small puddle in the back. Not bad, but alarming.
I used the old light trick where I had a light inside the rear of the cabin, closed the door, and could see a strip of light emitting from where the gasket should be making a better seal against the top support. I took a bunch of pictures below and hoping to get some advice from anyone out there who may have run into the same thing.
All the gaskets are new as this is a fully restored FJ and just trying to see if I need to simply pull back this part of door gasket , from the adhesive and reapply at a higher angle so that it makes contact for the top mount, or is it simply as just adjusting the rear door a little bit higher to close up the gap. I’m open to any and all suggestions at this point. I don’t want to stick in any “gasket filler pieces” to make up the gap as that will not last long.
Thanks for any recommendations.
