Over the weekend I had a chance to get the old FJ out in a pretty bad rain storm and did really well with no issues at all inside the cabin. When I pulled her in the garage, I noticed there was water droplets all over the inside window on the right rear ambulance door as well as a small puddle in the back. Not bad, but alarming.

I used the old light trick where I had a light inside the rear of the cabin, closed the door, and could see a strip of light emitting from where the gasket should be making a better seal against the top support. I took a bunch of pictures below and hoping to get some advice from anyone out there who may have run into the same thing.

All the gaskets are new as this is a fully restored FJ and just trying to see if I need to simply pull back this part of door gasket , from the adhesive and reapply at a higher angle so that it makes contact for the top mount, or is it simply as just adjusting the rear door a little bit higher to close up the gap. I’m open to any and all suggestions at this point. I don’t want to stick in any “gasket filler pieces” to make up the gap as that will not last long.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Couple more pics of the gap and door alignment (bottom of door to see if it can be adjusted up a tad).

I'd raise it - both doors if necessary.

Raise the door via some slight adjustment on hinges …. Or raise the seal (pull and reglue)?
The hinges where they attach to the tub and side panels are adjustable.

Tried adjusting the two brackets, just by loosening the entire set on the body (did nothing when applying upward lift) as well as door brackets (did nothing when applying upward lift). Adjusted striker plate inwards a bit to create more tightness when closed and latched, but still have gap in that top area. May need to reseat and reglue.

Maybe you can get a little ajustment inward on this stop plate to get the right door to pull in tighter.View attachment 3074960
I did that - but it was gently removing the gasket at the top of the door and resetting it in a higher position so that the gasket "squishes" more at the top of the door.

Did it squish it enough to close the gap? Would you post a picture of the lower hinge on that side, with the door closed?
I don’t like using flash, but here you go…
