I wondering what the input voltage was at the wire attached to the soldered tab on the rear window. I installed a Frost Fighter grid exactly to specs, turned it on and the rear window shattered. My thought was that maybe 12 plus volts was too much and it overheated the strips. I have a brand new window with OEM defroster ordered but now I am hesitant to hook it up to power.
Would someone confirm the input voltage to the defroster grid?
Thanks,
David

Not sure of the input but is it possible reversing the connection caused the overload similar to hooking up a cigarette lighter in reverse blows a fuse.

The system on electrical resistance causing the grid lines to heat. Direction should not have any impact but regardless I hooked it up like OEM and that corresponded to the Frost Fighter directions.
What I am looking for is the voltage at the wire that connects to the soldered tab on the rear window. Mine is a full 12 volts so if someone could verify what theirs is that would help me know if mine is too high.

Grumpy.... sucks about your back window, what is the cost of the new (or do I even want to know)?
Mine hasn't worked in a few years but I think I remember checking at one point and it being just under 12v, like Miyamoto.

I think it was around $500 and the pain was real pulling that much from my wallet.

On the bright side, if there can be one...With your wallet so much thinner it will be more comfortable to sit on and maybe keep the drivers seat from tearing. :(

Bummer
