I have hacked up some steel for my new rear bumper but can decide if I should weld it to the rear cross member or plate and bolt it.

If it crashes I will take the gas axe to it if welded.
Bolted may not be as strong.

One other consern is were to set the mounts.
Parrallel with the frame rails or of set to the center.

Impact from a rear ender could cause frame damage is my thought.

Any feed back would be great.

cheers and  s

mine is bolted. But if you get in a wreck it's still going to screw things up. That rear crossmember is a bastard to take off. 16 or so rivets and bolts and welds to get it off.

Thanks for the shot troll.

Nice bumber.

I am going to go straight off the cross menber and relocate the lights into the new bumber.

The rivets could be a real issue if I ever had a problem.
Welded or bolted really wouldn't matter if I had to replace it I suppose.

Will update this tread w/ a photo when I decide what to do.

Here are some shots of the bumber mounted.
Decided to vertical weld it on.
Made the bumber light anuff so if I get nailed the bumber should take the impact and not fuc up the frame.
Makes a good step also.
No hieght restrictions here on bumbers.

figured I might as well drop a couple photos of the nerf bars.
Some like them and others hate em.
I like the original shape of the boards that it once had.
Made em heavy.
T-Boning here is a regular thing.
Honk 2x as you blaze through a red light is the driving standard.
They will distroy the frame but save our asses etc...
