Rear bumper: Kaymar or wait for Slee? (1 Viewer)

I thought of that Hoser. I have that killer guy who did the bumpers on my 80 and all my other mods. In fact I'm having him make me rear control arm mount skid plates to protect those vulnerable babies. Since I want a high-lift mount and a tire carrier etc., I wanted to wait for a packaged product. Tell you what, there's NOTHING in Tucson. I have to look to another city even for air in my tires.
I'd kill for a custom off-raod shop in this town. Even a gas station. ;p

IMHO Kaymar suck.....

Big heavy [275lb] hanging with tyre, of the back of the car, even more with jerry can and holder, and not worth the $3.5k Aus, it looks like it was designed by a boilermaker, instead of an engineer.

They kill deperture angle from standard on the corners, and the tow bar section hangs lower as well.

Ok, for some odd reason those pictures did not want to show.

Well, between Christo's pictures and Darren's "right out with it" comments about the Kaymar (THANKS!), the choice has been made. Kaymar. Kidding!
Nope, the way the rocks and ledges are out here I need the smallest bumper I can get. Thanks to all for your help!

Darren, I'm not real clear what you're saying here....

What are you worried about with the 100 that keeps you from doing it? I like the 3rd pic snook posted. That's what I'd like to see on mine soon.

SHHH TRW, SHHHH! Don't bring up that subject.

Since I use the 100 the same way I use the 80 I should design my upgrades that same aggressive way. You're right, I should cut those frames too and slap on those smaller steel bumpers. The reason I don't (I think) is because I have the 80 to be most aggressive with. The 100 is such a nice truck and was bought new so I think I'll keep it looking slick. Heck, it goes just about anywhere with those bigger bumpers any how. :D

Ooops. I guess what I was really wondering about is what is it that requires the 100 to have such a large rear bumper compared to earlier cruisers. I haven't cravled under there to check it out since a replacement bumper is still a way off, but it seems that, with the exception of the Podvin bumper, the replacements are relatively big still. I've been waiting for slee or someone to come out with some type of slim tube type thing to get the extra clearance.

Hat's off to Slee. I've "worked him" for 3 years to make the 100 bumper on the aggressive side. Looks like he's done that. (That's why I'll wait.) He did say with all the stuff under the 100 that there is a lot involved and the bumber is still quite heavy. I think the best hard core option would be to cut the frame and tail pipe and slam on a little guy like my 80. It'll kill the looks though on a new truck.

LOOKS????

Chrome wont get you home.....

I tried to convinced I4C4LO (that is his truck in the picture) to make our custom rear bumper’s side scoop down as low as where the slee slider end at.

That way when the rear tire climbed down the boulder, the vehicle's rear will have LESS momentum or energy to come down and crash, but slide down. The side of the custom rear bumper is to act as an “extension” slider. BTW, the rear crossmember is not altered.

As for the front bumper, that is a total different issue thus slimmer the better.

I would rather not have the extra clearance taken away. The sides should be strong enough to drop the truck on when coming off a ledge. Also, Amando's bumper was great and I like the little back view where it matches the tailgate contours, but I was not crazy about the side view.

As for weight and size. The 100 is way bigger. You can actually fit a 80 series rear bumper in the 100 series rear bumber. The wings are longer, and the total back end is bigger. Also the receiver adds weight.

So slee are you working on or do you see in the future a nice thin but stout rear bumper for the 100 with lots of clearance? Unlike some, I can wait.
