Here’s my problem. Oil spydering on the left rear rim. I’m assuming it is either the rear axle shaft oil seal or rear axle hub oil seal. Hoping the axle shaft seal as that is easier to get to. Any ideas?

1979 BJ40 with full float rear axle

Thanks for any input

Well, logically it should be the either axle seal or both, since that's where the oil is coming from, but that's just a guess since I haven't rebuilt mine yet.

good thing for you the floater axle's seal is right there out on the end of the spindle. Pull the axle shaft and the first thing you'll come to
is the seal. Change it, if it stops the leak it's a cheap and easy fix.
